Readify ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the Readify mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this policy. We encourage you to read it carefully to understand how your data is handled.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information

When you register, we collect your email address, display name, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in via Google, Apple, or Microsoft, we receive your name and email from the provider.

Profile Data

Your avatar image, subscription tier, onboarding preferences (age range, reading interests, weekly goals), and usage statistics such as pages scanned and hours listened.

Device Information

Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.

Usage Analytics

Aggregated data about how you interact with the App, including features used and session duration.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's core features (scanning, OCR, text-to-speech)
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Personalize your experience based on your preferences
  • Track your reading progress and achievements
  • Process subscription payments through app store providers and RevenueCat for subscription management
  • Improve the App through aggregated usage analytics
  • Send notifications you have opted into (reminders, updates)
  • Respond to support requests

3. Document & OCR Data

Readify processes your scanned documents using on-device optical character recognition (OCR). This means:

  • Document scanning and text extraction happen entirely on your device. No document images or extracted text are sent to our servers unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.
  • Scanned documents, OCR results, and metadata are stored locally in your device's app storage directory.
  • If you subscribe to a plan with cloud sync, your documents are encrypted and stored securely on our servers. You can delete cloud-synced data at any time.

4. Text-to-Speech Data

The App converts extracted text into spoken audio using AI voice synthesis. Regarding this feature:

  • Text is sent to our TTS processing service solely to generate audio output.
  • We do not store the generated audio files on our servers. Audio is streamed to your device and cached locally.
  • We do not use the text content you send for TTS to train AI models or for any purpose other than generating the requested audio.

5. Data Storage & Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text.
  • API communication is secured via HTTPS and JWT-based authentication with short-lived access tokens.
  • Avatar images are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls.
  • The App follows a local-first approach: your documents remain on your device by default. Cloud features are opt-in only.
  • We regularly review our security practices and update them as needed.

6. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For app distribution and subscription payment processing. Their privacy policies apply to transactions made through their platforms.
  • RevenueCat: For subscription entitlement management, billing status synchronization, and purchase restoration support.
  • OAuth Providers (Google, Apple, Microsoft): If you choose social login, we receive only your name and email. We do not access your contacts, calendar, or other account data.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: We use secure cloud hosting providers to store account data and optional cloud-synced content.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can view all personal data we hold about you through your profile settings.
  • Correction: You can update your display name and profile information at any time.
  • Deletion: You can request account deletion, which will remove your personal data from our servers within 30 days.
  • Data Portability: You can export your scanned documents and data from the App.
  • Opt-Out:You can disable notifications and analytics collection through the App's settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Readify is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email.
